New cat breeds

Despite the existence of hundreds of different cat breeds, breeders do not stop there and continue to experiment, creating new masterpieces. Here are just a few of the latest results from their tireless and fruitful work.

Lika

Monster cat - such a phrase comes to mind when you see a photograph of this cute and at the same time terrible "beast." The name of the breed in translation means "werewolf" or "Volodak" - a fictional mythical creature that turns into a full moon into a terrible wolf. Contrary to popular belief that Lika cats have a similar gene pool with the Sphinx and Devon Rex, it is scientifically proven that this is not true.

The new breed appeared as a result of a natural mutation, and subsequently crossbreeding with short-haired domestic cats of a suitable color (black and tan). The official date of birth of these originals is 2011. In 2013, a standard was drawn up, however, due to the small number of herds, Lika is still classified as previously recognized.

Appearance features - a completely naked stomach and paws, a wide opening of the yellow eye, bald "glasses" around the eye. The wool sits on the body in shreds, covering the folded skin, due to which there is a tousled effect. The undercoat is missing. The nature of such cats is no less peculiar than their appearance. In short, complete harmony with the owner and aggressive behavior towards strangers. It has pronounced hunting instincts.

Caracat

Attempts to develop a new hybrid breed with steppe lynx genes have been ongoing since 2007, but only in 2014 did Russian felinologists manage to complete the long-term business. Today it is already officially recognized by TICA, as well as by the ICU registry in Russia. Translated from Turkish Karaket means "black ear".

Cats have a very individual appearance, reminiscent of the characteristic features of their wild relatives. Namely - a strong muscular torso, long limbs and large paws, high-ranking ears, reminiscent of lynxes. The body of an adult animal can reach up to 50 cm in height and 90 cm in length, and the average weight is 10-12 kg. Due to the pigmented eyelids, the eyes of the caracat look very bright and expressive. Two vertical and parallel risks located on the forehead are further evidence of his affiliation with freedom-loving steppe cats.

With their rather large physique and “wild” pedigree, the animals are very peaceful and have an easygoing character. They are happy to pick up the baton in active games, love children and are very close to other pets. The content is unpretentious, quickly accustomed to the tray and can even walk on a leash. They are not afraid of water and calmly endure the bathing procedure.

Panteretta

An experimental breed that continues to be under development, but has already been successfully registered at the IPCBA international exhibition. The goal of the breeders is to "make" a domestic cat with an affectionate character, but visually similar to a black panther. In the process of crossing Piski-beans, May-kuns, Bengal and Amur leopard cats were used. Since the breed has not yet been formed, it is not yet possible to buy it in the public domain.

Outwardly, Panteretta looks very graceful and has a strong, athletic body. Characteristics - a head in the form of a wide wedge, pronounced cheekbones, a strong chin and a powerful neck. Slightly slanting eyes can be golden, copper, green or bronze. The strong skeleton and slightly arched back “support” large round paws. The coat is dense and thick, soft to the touch and well glare in the sun.

With developed muscles, the cat is in constant motion. Differs in dexterity, playfulness and healthy curiosity. Not shy and not aggressive. Loyal to its owners, easy to maintain and does not like loneliness.

Pskov Greyhound Sphinx

The breed appeared as a result of the crossing of St. Petersburg sphinxes and a simple yard cat from Pskov (hence the name). Breeding work continues, so the Sphinx has not yet received official recognition by the Borzoi. Outwardly, the animals look very specific: a thin physique, a small head with high protruding ears, long legs. The eyes are large, wide open. There is no hair on the body. The skin has a spotty gray-golden color.

By nature, the cat is very playful and sociable. He quickly finds a common language with people and gets used to changing the home environment. It has a good appetite and cleanliness. Details about the characteristics of temperament, living conditions, nutrition and other subtleties of caring for these animals are not yet known. The date of birth of the breed is considered to be 2014.

Dwelf

The experimental breed, created as a result of crossing Munchkin, Sphinx and American Curl in 2009. Belongs to the category of the smallest in the world. The result is a cat with a very charismatic appearance. The elf’s fairy tale, embellished with the majesty of the sphinx and “diluted” with the softness of bambi - this is how you can describe a cute hairless cat with the original name.

In adulthood, the weight of the baby does not exceed 2 kg. Nimbly moving on its short paws, it causes only emotion and a smile. The surface of the skin is soft and tactilely reminiscent of suede. The color of dwarf can be different: from white and light beige to a shade of dark chocolate.

Unlike many purebred cats, miniature "elves" have good health, a stable psyche and are not prone to genetic diseases. Due to too sensitive and delicate skin, it is recommended to bathe them with baby shampoos or shower gels. Animals are very attached to the owners, do not like to be alone and are very offended if they are not given proper attention.

When deciding to get one of the listed cats or some other rare breed of cat at home, you need to be prepared for the fact that their cost can be calculated not in hundreds, but in thousands of dollars. Which is quite logical - an exclusive should cost the appropriate money.
